After every wear
Rinse your swimwear in cold, fresh water as soon as you can — especially after chlorine, salt water or sunscreen. Hand wash gently in cold water with a mild detergent, then lay flat in the shade to dry. This one habit does more than anything else to protect the fabric and shape.
Do
- Hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry.
- Rinse straight after swimming, before sunscreen and oils set in.
- Sit on a towel over rough surfaces like pool edges and timber to avoid snags and pilling.
- Rotate your pieces — giving swimwear a day to fully dry keeps the elastane resilient.
Don’t
- Machine wash, tumble dry or iron — heat breaks down stretch fibres.
- Wring or twist to dry; press gently in a towel instead.
- Leave wet swimwear balled up in a bag.
- Dry in direct sun for long periods, which can fade colour.
Sunscreen, oils & self-tan
Sunscreen, tanning oils and self-tan can stain and degrade swim fabric. Let them absorb before you dress, and rinse your swimwear soon after contact. Lighter shades are the most prone to marking, so take extra care with pale colours.
Storing
Make sure pieces are completely dry, then store them flat or loosely folded somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight. Avoid hanging heavier one-pieces for long periods, which can stretch the straps.
